Secrets of a Multi-awarded Author

BookTrail has been endorsing our valued authors into Pacific Book Awards to help them expose their books. Pacific Book Awards has opened many opportunities to deserving books from different genres. Winners and finalist are announced to 100,000 booksellers, publishers, and all key decision makers under their database.

Let's hear the inspiration and best practices from one of our successful authors here in BookTrail.

Fresh from winning awards for her books, “Jose’ The Donkey” and “Humphrey, the Baby Humpback Whale” as best children's book and best illustrated book(under 5 years old), allow us proudly introduce, Nancy Pidutti.

Nancy, let’s start by telling our readers a little about you.

Nancy: “I’m an 82 year old mother and grandmother who still work as a volunteer hospital chaplain a couple of times in a week.

I’ve been writing Biblical cantatas and dramas since 1979, three of which have been performed in Silver City, NM and all but two have been rewritten as dramas, translated into Telegu and performed in the state of Andrah Pradesh, India. Suresh Kumar, of Harvest India, has taken “Jose’ the Donkey,” translated it also and used it in his school and summer children’s activities.

Over the years, I have also written health articles, “Let’s Be Healthy” for various newspapers in the community, published health newsletters, given lectures and seminars on a wide variety of health topics at our local university.”

Were there any authors or books that helped you develop your writing style, or influenced your choice of genre?

Nancy: “Over the years I have read voluminously, so I can’t really credit any one author for assisting me in my writing style. However, I have felt compelled to write since high school when I wrote special articles for our little newspaper there.”

How would you describe your books?

Nancy: “These stories are upbeat, wholesome and convey a silent message of the reward of trust in God.”

What inspired you to write your books?

Nancy: “ I was an older mother with two young children. We frequently traveled rather long distances and I was desperate to entertain them. After a hasty prayer, the inspiration for “Jose’” came, you might say, ‘out of the blue.’”

What message would you like to convey to readers through your books?

Nancy: “Since these are children’s books, I would say that God loves His creation, both animals and children and wants to take care of them.”

Nancy, what was your favorite experience with Book Trail Agency?

Nancy: “William Lee was delightfully helpful, took time to listen and encouraged me along the way.”

What advice would you give to other aspiring authors?

Nancy: “Take time to explore English grammar. It can be helpful and even foundational to good writing.”

What are you working on next?

Nancy: “‘Young Samuel’ is finished and ready to go as both a drama and a story for young children”
